Paragon has been an industry leader for over 70 years in USA made heating equipment of the highest quality for industries from glass blowing, to ceramics, to knifemaking.
We are delighted to offer their KMT series of ovens, built specifically with the knifemaker and blacksmith in mind; these include 3” thick refractory firebrick, which is 1/2” thicker than the industry standard, and with efficient heating up to 2350º Fahrenheit or 1287º Celcius.
With longevity and durability in mind, the heat elements are mounted in dropped, recessed grooves machined into the firebrick, to protect them while in use.
Within the oven, there are thermocouples that extend from the roof of the kiln and monitor the internal temperature. The ¼” wide Type-K, 14-gauge, exposed-tip thermocouple is made with special-limit wire for superior accuracy. The exposed tip gives the controller a fast response time for even temperatures during holds. Made in America to Paragon's exact standards, you can be sure you're getting superior quality.
The KMT ovens feature a counterweighted door for simple one-handed operation and have a microswitch to ensure the heating elements are off while the door is open. The door is mounted on a heavy-duty 1/2” thick hinge shaft for smooth opening and long-lasting durability. Because of the rigid case and heavy hinge, the door is sturdy enough for years of faithful service.
We have these ovens available in 4 different lengths, suited well for different needs of various makers.
Smaller ovens require less power draw than larger ovens. All of our KMT series are run off of 120V single-phase power.
The internal dimension of each oven varies based on the length chosen, but all are 5.5" wide and 4.25" tall. For example, the KM18T is 18" x 5.5" x 4.25".
